Chesterfield Waterside has once again entered the Top 100 study for UK regeneration projects run by Planning Magazine. We will find out next year how the project compares to its #50 placing in 2011. Our Bradford scheme at New Bolton Woods may be entered next year if the planning consent is achieved in 2012, allowing it to qualify for the list.

How Planning has been appointed by Urbo to manage the outline planning application for its £250m New Bolton Woods project in Bradford. This large scale regeneration scheme aims to transform some 200 acres of north Bradford and provide around 1,500 new homes in a sustainable settlement.

Urbo has appointed Urbed and 5 plus Architects to lead the design of its West Bar project in Sheffield. This 5 acre city centre project is being progressed in partnership with Sheffield City Council. Urbed will be responsible for urban design work and 5 plus will lead the design of individual buildings. The development is an office-led mixed use scheme aimed at major occupiers and new design work will be completed in 2012.

Urbo to take on Sheffield's West Bar Project
Sheffield City Council have formally approved plans to resurrect the flagship West Bar Project in the City Centre by working in partnership with Urbo. Urbo has agreed terms to take on the development, previously led by Castlemore before they were put into administration. Urbo have also been working with Price Waterhouse Coopers who are Administrators for Castlemore. Urbo own land within the site and together with the Council and PwC/Castlemore already control over half of the site area. Urbo will be responsible for negotiating to work with the remaining landowners and to take forward a high quality mixed use development on the edge of Sheffield City Centre.

The UK Top 100 Regeneration Projects 2011 – Chesterfield Waterside moves up to #50
Chesterfield Waterside is now rated as the 50th largest urban regeneration project in the UK according to industry magazine Regeneration and Renewal. This is a move of 29 places in two years. The Top 100 Regeneration Projects listing is intended to provide an annual snapshot of the UK's most investment-hungry physical regeneration schemes.

Council set to push ahead with £500m Regen vision between Shipley and Bradford
Bradford Council is set to press ahead with ambitious regeneration plans by setting up a public-private company to develop a £500 million 'eco-settlement'.
The Council's Executive will be asked to agree to the formation of a Joint Venture Company (JVCo) to develop a huge area of land between Bradford and Shipley. The project will be the central section of a wider scheme along the Canal Road Corridor.

Backing for £300m landmark project
A £300m regeneration project has moved a step closer to reality after the local authority backed plans to transform the former industrial site into a major commercial and residential destination.
The Waterside site is in the south of the region and covers 60 acres close to the centre of Chesterfield, with the River Rother and the Chesterfield Canal waterways at the heart of the development.
"This is a significant milestone for Chesterfield," said Peter Swallow, chairman of the Waterside Partnership, a joint venture between developers Urbo Regeneration and the borough council.
"The Waterside scheme will play a key part in the area's modern awakening.

Laver Resorts Regeneration Team straight out of the blocks
Following their recent purchase of former Moneystone Quarry in Oakamoor, Laver Resorts have wasted no time in starting work on concepts for the transformation of the site into what is hoped to be the country’s premier eco-leisure resort. Key members of the project management and regeneration team visited the 420 acre site last Wednesday (18.8.10) and carried out an extensive inspection of the site.

Moneystone Quarry - Purchase Completed
Laver Resorts have completed the purchase of Moneystone Quarry, near Whiston, from Sibelco UK Ltd for an undisclosed fee. Sibelco UK Ltd will continue to operate the quarry and associated processing facilities on a leasehold basis until such time as operations cease, which is currently envisaged to be during 2011.
